Chicago - Tri-Taylor/ University Villiage/West Loop

Tri-Taylor/University Village/West Loop

Just west of the Chicago River and downtown, the Tri-Taylor, University Village and West Taylor neighborhoods are experiencing new development and growth. City train service is available on the Blue, Green, and Pink Lines, and access to Metra and Amtrak trains is within a short distance. The neighborhoods are serviced by bus and have extensive highway access with Interstates 90, 94, and 290 (Kennedy, Dan Ryan, and Eisenhower Expressways).
Once primarily a commercial area, the West Loop is experiencing the most development with new residential options mixing with trendy restaurants and shopping. Individuals and families can find housing to meet their needs. The NBA Bulls and NHL Blackhawks also call the West Loop home with the United Center conveniently located in the area.
As a historic district, Tri-Taylor features older row houses, many from the late 1800s, which bring charm to the neighborhood. However, growing popularity due to its location and accessibility is fueling new development as well. The neighborhood is home to the Chicago Technology Park and is adjacent to the Illinois Medical District.
University Village, so named due to its location next to the University of Illinois at Chicago, is both the name of the neighborhood and a mixed-use development. On a greater scale, the University Village neighborhood also includes the Little Italy area known for its restaurants. Students, professionals, and families all call the area home.
