Chicago - Bucktown, Wicker Park, East Village

Bucktown, Wicker Park, East Village

Trendy. Popular. Desirable. Convenient. These are just some of the words that describe the Bucktown, Wicker Park, and East Village neighborhoods. Located northwest of downtown Chicago, the neighborhoods are serviced by Interstates 90 and 94 (Kennedy Expressway), numerous bus routes, and the Blue Line L, which connects downtown and O’Hare.

Bucktown is the northernmost neighborhood of the three. Settled in the 1800s, Bucktown derives its name from the goats that were once raised in the area by Polish immigrants. Today, it is a highly residential area with a mix of older and newer construction.

Wicker Park, just to the south of Bucktown, was named by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s Best Hipster Neighborhoods. With a young, vibrant feel to it, Wicker Park offers an array of art galleries, shops, and dining establishments to compliment the wide variety of residential choices available.

East Village is the least gentrified of the three neighborhoods and retains some of the ethnic character from its founding. South of Wicker Park, East Village offers a quiet residential area with a mix of options, from cottages to flats to new condos.
